WELCOME

Bluefield Farm is a 26-acre fourth generation family farm located ten miles southeast of North Manchester, Indiana. Our focus is to create a comfortable and sustainable place to live and to share the land as an educational resource. We grow fresh seasonal veggies, flowers and herbs for sale at our farm, through our CSA, and at the local farmers market. To learn more about what we are growing, click here.

HERE'S WHAT PEOPLE HAVE SAID ABOUT BLUEFIELD FARM

"Bluefield is a beautiful place with a comfortable house and good soil. I'm glad to have spent time there and learn from what the gardens have to offer. The owners were caring and supportive. I recommend it to anyone interested." ~ Dave Pritchett, tenant from 2011 through 2012

"If you want to try small-scale farm management, Bluefield is an excellent choice and a rare opportunity. Our group of 6 to 8 friends did beekeeping, had milk goats, built and used a chicken coop, and experimented with different gardening plots and techniques by hand. While it has been difficult to make a great deal of money on produce sales, there are area markets that we didn't pursue (Wabash, Huntington, Ft. Wayne). I think the Bluefield Farm market gardens could provide reasonable income during the growing season for 1 or 2 people if you were prepared to work full-time on the farm and actively build relationships at markets and area restaurants. I saw this done with the previous renters.

The gift of the North Manchester community cannot be overstated. Due to the great reputation of Bluefield Farm, we quickly plugged in with farmers and mentors in the area who gave us the opportunity to learn from their experience. Also, working with Sharon Burch was a joy, as she gave us freedom to experiment and learn by doing. Sharon was reasonable with her expectations and supportive of our efforts. If your goal is sustainability and care for the land, I think you will be surprised by how much she will bless your efforts." ~ Liz Schallert, tenant from 2011 through 2012

"Bluefield is a beautiful, quiet, fertile farm that was perfect for me as I learned a variety of new skills in farming, gardening and simple living. It is such a welcoming place with so many possibilities. It is also part of a strong community, North Manchester. Manchester has a thriving farmer's market, a college and a variety of small businesses. Many of my happiest memories can be credited to Bluefield Farm. I would recommend it to anyone interested in the joy and challenge of working with the land." ~ Scott Hensley, tenant from fall 2008 through 2010

"I was studying sustainable agriculture in college and came here to get hands on experience. It was fun and rewarding." ~ Spencer Bell, intern summer 2009
